Heat Wave was founded in 2001 in Phoenix, Arizona - a hotbed of agility and vast untapped flyball resources. Heat Wave was the first competition flyball team in Phoenix and entered its first tournament in February 2001. Today, Heat Wave boasts five regional championships (2006 to 2010), dogs ranked in the top 100 of their breed with NAFA, a NAFA Hall of Fame nominee, and two Region 6 MVPs. As a direct result of our mentoring, there are now several other flyball teams in the Phoenix area.
Heat Wave is a competitive team which relishes the comraderie and competition of a tournament. We race our best no matter what division our teams are in. The team regularly travels out of town and out of state for tournaments. In October of 2010 we did a road trip to Indianapolis, IN for the NAFA Can Am Classic. Heat Wave's dogs benefit from the assistance and views of the entire team when training. Our members also enjoy hanging out together and we try to schedule several potluck get togethers during the year. One thing you will never be while on this team is...hungry!
All of the dogs on Heat Wave are companions and family members first and racing dogs second. Many of the dogs have Canine Good Citizen titles and most of them have dabbled in the venues of therapy, agility, rally obedience, dock diving, conformation, Jack Russell games, lure coursing, and disc dog.
If you enjoy team sports and travel, this may be the team for you.
